Congratulations Mike on what you have accomplished, it is truly inspiring. Thanks for responding to my thread about yams and figuring their calories. I guess you are right that I haven't totally "jumped in" to the MWL 100%- it still seems to me that to lose weight I have to create a calorie deficit - burn more than I take in. I think MWL is an effective way to do that, and I try to follow it closely. But I still wonder about the calorie deficit thing, and so every so often I closely figure my calorie intake on a typical day and think about it. My personal "cheat" - and I would imagine most people have one - is to eat too much fruit. I love fruit, and find it discouraging to only have 2 pieces/day. So if my weight loss is going well, the excess fruit-eating creeps back. This is probably a longer reply than you wanted, but the bottom line is thanks for your reply to my post, and thanks for posting your inspiring story with pictures, I'm re-energized!

I see by your Mangolover name that you do! Mangos are my absolute favorite food on the planet! (sorry potatos). I agree with so much you said. Many times I 'over did it' with fruit. Could be worse... pizza could be our downfall!
