Hi, I'm Gail, I've been hanging around for well over a month enjoying and soaking in all the wonderful information. I wanted to get used to the diet before I started posting. Its been a big change for me and I didn't know if I could do it.

Been a meat eater all my life and used the adkins way of eating when ever I wanted to lose weight. I've never been really overweight though just basically to lose 10 or 20 lbs that creep up when your not looking.

I've also did gluten free for 1 year. Gluten is something that I'm better off without but I don't have to fear it like some people do. My symptoms are mild compared to some but always wondered if I took after my grandma who had celiac and died of stomach cancer.

Anyway, eating vegan appealed to me. I couldn't look at another plate piled high with meat. I wasn't sleeping good and started to worry about my health since I just had turned 50. Diabetes and high blood pressure are prevelant in many of my bro.s and sisters.

So I wanted to try this way of eating so I bought McDougalls books, Esselstyns, John robbins, and the China Study. Read them, and so did my husband and said we're doing this together. My two sons Luke (26) and Jon (24) wanted to go vegetarian but still eat cheese. I suppose so they can still have their pizza but that's ok with me, I'm supprised they wanted to go that far.

So that's as brief as I could get but I'm sure I'll be posting quite abit as I would like to share alot more. I wanted to come out of the closet today since I watched that news report on t.v. about adkins being the diet to lose the most weight and still get good blood workups. I just feel this is going to lead so many people in the wrong direction and it just sickens me.

Gail

That China Study, man--it brings in a lot of us. :)

Anyway, welcome. That's great that the men in your family are on board. You might be surprised what your sons will adapt to, given enough time. Education and just plain trial and error can produce miraculous results.

If you would have told me three years ago, for instance, that my husband would voluntarily give up meat and cheese, I would have fallen over with cynical laughter. But it happened.

Let us know if we can help you with any stumbling blocks, because living this way is actually darn easy after you get some new habits established.

Gail, sounds like you have a wonderful support system. How wonderful for you. You have the set up for a huge success for everyone.

It frosts all of our cakes when we see those kind of 'news' pieces on TV. I always want to write them and say compare studies, who is more reputable - Atkins little puny study or the Campbell's China Study? Now the China study was a study. Wouldn't you think that would have made the news? errrrr
