Congratulations, Nettie. I have been away for a bit with other things, and you're probably just about ready to post another success story, but it's sure nice to come back and celebrate with you.

I've lost 50 lbs but you got me thinking. Heck you are dropping so quick still. I mean myself it's like a half a pound a month. Here you weigh less than me. I figured I've been stalling because I've gotten smaller. But if you can still keep pounding away, then so should I.

I think we need to take up a Nettie wardrobe fund. I can't believe you have anything in the closet you use to wear.

Those bagged salads are easy, but I just wash and wrap up my leaves in paper towels each sunday. I let them dry while I do other chores then cut up for the week. So I make my own bagged salads. Keeping some papertowel in the zip lock helps. I recycle my papertowels for spills etc.

dressings, I have one that is still high in fat because of tahini. It's a major part of the flavor as it's a lemon tahini dressing, so it wouldn't be appropriate.

It's costing me a lot of money to make all those salads I eat. I've been thinking about doing what you do: make my own. But I really eat a lot of salad - at least one large one a day - so I'm not sure how much time I'd have to spend cutting up romaine, which is the basis for the salads I make (in addition to bagged spinach). I work 15 hour days much of the time, so I don't have a lot of time in the evening to make something.

Nettie...can I ask a question????

With all the weight loss, how has that effected your skin? I lost 100 on McDougall about 5 years ago at age 44 and kept it off for two years and then was bad and gained 75 lbs. back. I am now 50 and am on the program again and have taken off 22 pounds, but the skin under my skin is starting to pucker!!!! I'm not ready to have a saggy chin? Has your skin bounced back much, or is this something I am just going to have to deal with for being naughty for so long?

BTW....congrats on your success!!!! Your story is inspiring!!!!

I am 59 years old, and I now have a lot of saggy skin, especially on my upper arms. About 6 months ago I spoke to someone at my church who is a plastic surgeon. I was concerned about my "turkey neck". I was thinking I was going to need surgery to tighten it up but he suggested liposuction was all that was needed. I didn't have that done, and now, 6 months (and quite a few pounds) later, a lot of the flabby skin under the chin has tightened up on its own. Sadly, the flappy arms are still there.
On the bright side, though, I'd rather have flabby arms than FAT ONES!

My legs are actually pretty thin right now, but I also have a lot of loose skin at the thigh level.

I'm really thinking that, with exercise and time, the arms may improve some. Unfortunately, the back of the arm is probably the most difficult muscle to exercise. There are special exercises for that area of the body which I know about, but finding the time (and the inclination) to do them is difficult with my 15-hour work days right now.

Thanks Nettie!

Under my chin is really the only area that concerns me. My arms and legs have never really been that big and my middle where most of the fat lies, will ALWAYS be under clothes! :D

LOL Go Eppy you asked something I was wondering. As a 49 yo, whose skin is starting to sag I was wondering how Nettie was dealing with it. I've gotten 50 off so far and my last half is going really really slow.

Nettie I did Fuhrman for awhile and I used this tupperware Fridgemate thing made for veggie storage. They use to have a big round one which would fit 2-3 heads of lettuce. It would last usually 3 days with papertowels on top and the fridgemate opened for moisture. It's time consuming to do salads. Getting as many as I can done on one day helps me. Or at least getting all the veggies prepped. then mid week you can have some of the bags stashed and use them. I think the fresh smells and tastes better too.
