Great story and great photos! You look about 25! Were you still taking the medication for bp while you lost 70 pounds these past few months or did you discontinue it?

Yes I noticed you not only lost the weight but you look younger and younger in each photo!
Can I ask a stupid question what is a size #4 -6??
I am now at 118 lb 5'2" but I wear a size 12 /13 My goal is about 110 to 112lbs. but I don't understand clothes sizes. thanks and congrats ETeSelle Dlee

I guess sizes are different in different countries! I would think that in the USA at your size, you'd be wearing a zero or a two. I'm 5'3" and 122 or so, and I wear a 4 in some things, 6 in others, and 8 in others. (When I was a teenager, the smallest size was an 8--which is probably a zero or 2 now.)

You are so inspiring. Congratulations. Thank you for writing your story here. I relate very closely.

Unfortunately, I am a lot older and doing it again. Well, there is no time like the present, and if you can do it, I can too.

I have lost about 40 lbs from my last top weight and have slowed down because I was losing a lot of muscle. It came off fast doing mostly raw. It's not enough for optimum health, I believe, so I am starting to adopt the McDougall plan. My doctor endorses it too, so that really helps.

Continued good health and weight maintenance. You really look great. Lynn

Dear Elizabeth,

Your personal story is a wonderful "read." I'd love to see you write a David Letterman-style "Top Ten List" of your most successful compliance strategies. I would love to read it.

Respectably,
VegorSays

P.S. One of mine is: I "compose" most of my meals from tubs of grub in the fridge, heating things in my microwave. That way, when my brain says, "I'm hungry!" I can feed it right away instead of having to cook first. It was Grace Slick who sang, "Feed your head!" Ha!

Mmmm. Well, OK. ;) But I'm gonna start a new thread in the Lounge for this so that everyone can play!

I enjoyed reading this. Nice to know your success wasn't a straight line because I had trouble committing at first.

Also made me realize I probably need to lose weight. Same height as you, I resemble your "137 lbs." pic . I thought I'd look TOO skinny at 120 but you good great at both weights.

Omg, what an absolutely inspiring story! I'm keeping this thread in my bookmarks, for that extra oomph when/if I need a kick in the pants. :D

Wow ETeSelle, you are amazing--what an accomplishment!

And thanks for being so generous with sharing what works. I'm very inspired, after a lifetime of yo yo-ing and self-serving misinformation to finally get it right!

UPDATE: Happy 2nd Anniversary to me!

It's been TWO YEARS since I reached (well, exceeded!) my weight loss goal. I'm still thin, still have great labwork, and am still enjoying eating the McDougall way! I just experienced a broken ankle (caused when a horse stepped on my foot and I lost my balance, fell sideways, and the leg rotated over the stationary foot). I will be on crutches and non-weightbearing for 8 weeks, and while this is a complete PITA, all I can think is that it would be a complete NIGHTMARE at my old weight of 207! And the doctor was so amazed by the bloodwork in my chart from last year that she didn't even bother re-doing it before surgery LOL.

Thanks again, Dr. McDougall, for helping me get my life back. :) You rock.

Oh wow, I am so sorry you have a broken ankle! But I can sooooooo understand your feeling of triumph that you are NOT obese with this broken ankle! (I broke my ankle in 2008, while I was at my top weight, so I know of what I speak! I only had to be non-weigh-bearing for two weeks and that was bad enough! I do feel for you!)

And happy anniversary to you! I'm coming up on my second anniversary as well, in mid-June! I'm so glad we did this together, 4500 miles apart! You indeed rock!
