Prepare the night before:
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup almond or rice milk
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
small amount of pure maple syrup
dash of cinnamon
1/2 to whole banana sliced thinly
Measurements are to taste.
Stir to combine, put in covered container, chill overnight.

In the morning, you can add 1 tbsp ground flaxseed and you may need to add a bit more almond or rice milk to desired thickness.

Got this recipe off of YouTube - Lean Body Lifestyle
Don't use too many of this guy's recipes, but this one seems to be compatible with Dr. McDougall's plan.

I have it every morning! My favorite way to fix: Cook about 1 cup of it with 1-1/2 cups water for 5 minutes and serve with 1 T. ground flaxseed, 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce, 1 sliced very ripe banana, trickle of maple syrup, sprinkle of nutmeg. It's the best breakfast ever!

I have oatmeal every morning! I just add cinnamon & water and nuke it, and then add a banana (thinly sliced) after it is done to sweeten it. I sometimes have it in the evenings too, because I love it so much!

Yep, all you need is a banana for the sweetness. With my apple cook into the oatmeal and super sweet mango on top I don't need any mable syrup....like you CarolynA (have not yet) but could have if for dinner too...Nice thing i find I stay full for hours on this meal...and it's soooooo good.....what a combo.:))

I don't cook rolled oats (Bob's Red Mill Org Extra Thick at the moment--excellent, clean taste on their own) for more than about a minute in the microwave. If I want it right away--with just a Tbsp or two of wheat bran and a scoop of flaxmeal--just about 45 seconds. No sweetener, sugar or syrup for me. The oats and the other things taste wonderful! I've eaten oats forever and every way and this is my fave at the moment.

Hey Don,
I'm a brand new member on this site too.
Welcome!
Okay, well I just started eating oatmeal, not regularly yet, but I do like it.
Fruits like apples and banana go really well as toppings and cinnamon is awesome with oatmeal too.
bon appetit! :)

I LOVE to eat Pumpkin Pie Oats this time of year:

1/2 C Old Fashioned Oats
1/4 C canned Pumpkin
1/2 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or soymilk)
-for MWL, increase water by 1/2 cup
1 C water
1 TBS ground flaxseed
1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
1/2 apple, chopped (can substitute 1/2 sliced banana)
1/2 C shredded zucchini (optional)

~cook in microwave 5 minutes, let sit 5 minutes more - YUM!

I have ate oatmeal almost every morning the past 60 days.

I either have a 1/2 cup or 1 cup of Old Fashion Oats. I add water and microwave for four minutes.

My usual is banana, and my favorite. I have also done strawberries, blueberries, mixture of all three or two. I have also put in apple chunks before microwaving with raisins. I also have used a little brown sugar or honey. This morning I added some grape nuts cereal and honey.

This week I bought store brand instead of Quaker brand...
