Hello everyone! Thank you for being patient. I got some much needed groceries. I spent around 300 dollars and can feed my family of 5 for just about 2 weeks, minus a few little things here or there. Whoever said you cant eat healthy and cheaply doesnt know what their talking about. :cool:

wild4stars - Thanks for the tips. I think you are right that I am going to have to start having at least some MWL food on me at all times.

I travel a lot and have to do a certain amount of client entertainment (which almost always means restaurants). Sometimes these events come up at the last minute so that I cannot always plan ahead. At least if I bring some food with me wherever I go, I can try to eat that food before going to the restaurant so that I will not be as tempted by the menu.

I guess I was hoping that despite all the posts on the McDougall board to the contrary that someone had come up with a couple of dishes that could be ordered at restaurants from time-to-time without doing too much destruction. I suppose this wish comes from the same part of me that believed for so many years that heavily processed food could be healthy.

It just drives home one of the other themes that I see repeated often on this forum. Not only do I need to learn a whole bunch of new eating behaviors and habits, but I also need to learn a whole new set of social skills -- like ordering McDougall-friendly food at a restaurant without inadvertently making my new WOE the center of attention. :)

I have gotten back to exercise and have done 3 hours of aqua aerobics this week already. Dissolution made a comment about something he read on weight loss and the thermal effect of swimming - so I asked my trainer what kind of calorie burn I can expect from out classes. His estimate is between 400 and 600 calories a class. It really depends the level of effort each individual is putting into it. He says I am a consistent 600 calorie burner. I wish that would show up on my scale. On the other hand it is showing up in melted inches: my legs and butt are shrinking visibly this week this week. Also three of my pool buddies have asked me how much weight I have lost now because it's finally really showing. So no discouragement over the scale now that I really think about it. :-D
