I just don't seem to be losing what am I doing wrong??

Monday-Friday
b-1/2 cup of rolled oats w/ raisens & 1/2 cup of almond milk

Monday-Wednesday
l-Large Kale salad with greens and apple cider vinagar dressing

Thrus-Friday
l- baked potato & corn with salasa

Most of the time for supper I have a bowl of soup with carrots potatoes and sweet potatoes and other starchy vegs it home made and made with veg broth, and dice tomatoes
and then I have a fruit and later some air popped popcorn.
Exercise is about 2 mile walk at the gym or jumping on the mini trampoline for about 1/2 hr. My work is a desk job so I don't get to much exercise during the day mostly after I get home do I exercise. I am still having about 2 cups a coffee a day and drinking water after that. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you!

Raisins and almond mile when I add them stall my weight loss. Is your dressing a home made dressing? Dressings can derail us quickly if we aren't careful. Also what's in your salsa? I have found that some of them have oils in them even when they don't list fats very annoying.

My dressing is Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar the ingredients doesn't show anything in this so I doin't know. Also I should mention I have about of a cup of beans in my soup that I forgot to mention in my ingredients. The salsa is Field Day organic salsa the sodium looks to be quite high so maybe I should cut back on that its has 130mg also I like lots of tabassco but the ingredients do not look so bad in tabassco sodium is low. Thanks for the suggestions on Almond milk and raisins I will try to cut back on those and maybe try rice milk instead.

What you're eating looks really good. I would suggest writing down absolutely everything that goes into your mouth for 3 days, then take a look at it carefully...maybe even post it here and others can help. Little things can make a big difference...like what Rosey pointed out.

Other than that, just stick with it and try not to get discouraged. Maybe only weigh 1 time a week. Sometimes it takes a while for our bodies to catch up with our behavior. Increasing the exercise (like walk with an incline on the treadmill or at a faster pace), or adding some strength training can also help.

Good luck, and keep us posted. Here is an excellent video to watch to help you understand the principles of calorie density:

I know it sounds crazy, but raisins stall me, too. Try replacing them with a handful of frozen blueberries. Also, you might just need a little more time. The body can take a while to adjust. It can stash a lot of water and fiber in your guts.

Looks like you're on the right track. What seems to be working for me is that I cut out almost all fruit and all dried fruit. I typically make a large pot of Minestrone soup and fill it mostly with vegetables and perhaps 8oz of white and red kidney beans. That's my go to meal. 1/2 cup of oatmeal in the morning then maybe a cup of steamed vegetables for lunch. For dinner I have a large salad of greens and spinach with vinegar dressing, followed by a cup of steamed vegetables and then a cup of the soup. I play starches by ear. If I really get hungry I'll make a few small roasted potatoes. Alternate dinner is the same but beans and brown rice instead of soup. For a splurge I'll have a burrito on a non fat corn tortilla of pinto beans and pico de gallo. That's about it. That and I work out at least 2 hours a day, walk for at least 1 1/2 hours and do ranch work for 4-6 hours. So far I'm averaging a little over 1 lb a day loss.

I don't really count calories but it varies from 500-1200-1600 a day depending on how I feel. It has gotten to where I enjoy feeling hungry. Just keep at it. Anything you do is better than what you were doing before...

Thanks for all your suggestions, I am going to try them all and write everything down. Starting the AM with a spinach and frozen fruit smoothie and the was surprisingly good. Other then that I think I will skip the fruit and just get it in my smoothie. I will keep you posted.

from your ticker it does show you have lost 2 lbs...I say stick to it and increase the greens...as for your HB..some men seem to lose it easier...just keep going you have been at it only 10 days now...let your body get used to it and keep it up.....with more fiber you may be holding on to more water to until you get used to it...

Okay, I'll bite (pun intended ;-) ) So your oatmeal? Is that a 1/2 cooked or dry then cooked in water? Your lunch of a cup of steamed veggies, is that all you eat at lunch or in conjunction with the soup?

And what all do you put in your soup, which veggies, do you use a broth base? Just curious always looking for a good soup :)

You received some great advice here. I find that when I have any dried fruit or nuts in my diet, my weight loss stalls or I even gain a bit.

I actually started doing better (lost 2 lbs. this week) when I upped my starches. I added more sweet potatoes and red or yukons and it's like it set my body to lose again.

Keep up with the WOE and don't compare yourself to your hubby. Pat yourself on the back for all the good you are doing for yourself.

"Okay, I'll bite (pun intended ) So your oatmeal? Is that a 1/2 cooked or dry then cooked in water?"

I make a 1/2 cup dry but rarely eat the whole cup when cooked.

"Your lunch of a cup of steamed veggies, is that all you eat at lunch or in conjunction with the soup?"

Usually green beans and or carrots & peas. Sometimes by themselves, often before the soup. If I feel the need I'll have some roasted potatoes or a 1/2 cup brown rice but I've really cut back on those items. I could eat a lot of roasted potatoes.

"And what all do you put in your soup, which veggies, do you use a broth base? Just curious always looking for a good soup"

I make a vegetable broth and to this I add 16 oz combined of red & white kidney beans and garbanzo beans. 6 whole carrots sliced, 6 stalks of celery sliced, 16 oz of green beans cut up, 1 whole sweet onion diced, 8 oz of pearl onions, 16 oz of diced tomatoes, 8 oz of tomato sauce, lots of garlic 4-6 large cloves minced, 1 tbs Italian seasoning, 1 tbs oregano, 1 tbs basil. Add water and simmer until veggies are tender. I vary the amount of beans on how I am feeling and how much I want to lose. If I'm feeling hungry I'll add more beans and maybe some small potatoes but in my current frame of mind just the soup holds me fine.

My wife is a type 1 diabetic so she requires more carbs and protein than I do so she'll have more potatoes and beans and maybe an oil free whole wheat roll or crackers. She is losing too, just more difficult for her to lose as much as I am.

This makes a lot and lasts me a week. You can add cut up or small potatoes but really, this is one hearty soup.

For dinner I'll eat a big salad before the soup. I rotate this with just a few things I like and it seems to be working. Brown rice with different beans, lots of steamed veggies, and just enough starches to keep me from feeling hungry.

Good luck..

You've gotten a lot of good advice here already. I agree with Rachelle, you may need to eat more starches--some rice or a potato with that kale salad, for instance. And I found my losses increased when I increased my oatmeal from 1/2 cup dry (made with 1 cup water) to 1 cup dry, made with 2 cups water, and 1 cup of blueberries.

Also, you may need to eat more, period. If you listed everything, it doesn't seem like a lot of "green-and-yellow" veggies either. So try eating some fresh, non-starchy, leafy or juicy vegetables before the soup that's your last meal of the day.

This is the Maximum Weight Loss plan thread, and so the advice about dried fruit is right on--MWL asks us to cut out dried fruit and fruit purees, including applesauce. And no nuts. And those "milks"--I found that when I cut them out completely, I really took off on weight loss.

And to answer the question in your thread--you aren't doing anything "wrong!" at all! You have lost 2 pounds! Hooray! I lost 100 pounds, at an average loss of 1.25 pounds a week. But it happened, no matter what the rate was! Good for you on the 2 pounds! Keep going! :D

Edited to spell Rachelle's name right! ;-)

I agree w/ FV. It hasn't been very long and you've already lost 2 lbs! This isn't magic, you know. ;) You didn't put it on overnight and you won't take it off that way either. As for your hubby--the sad fact is that men lose faster/more easily than women. That's b/c our sole purpose in Mother Nature's opinion is to bear children--so we are more efficient at gaining and holding on to weight in order to protect them. This is just a fact, and there's nothing you can do about it, so stop comparing yourself to your hubby!

Just keep on doing what you're doing. Make sure you're eating plenty of complex carbs so you're not hungry, and report back to us in a few weeks. :)

Yes I agree I haven't been following this plan for long how ever I have been following lowfat vegan, since the end of Nov. No meat, no diary and no processed foods, no salt. Sorry If I sound like I was whining. My husband is not vegan and he eats what ever he wants and still loses weight it just that I needed to vent!!! I'm over it now and I will keep doing what I have been doing and Im sure in time it will come off.
