I totally understand what you mean. There's a woman we work with who has breast cancer and everyone is supporting her in "the fight". Why do people hvae to fight with their bodies? The body can't help that you are putting so many toxins in it.
Or the milk campaigns...those drive me nuts.
And when people at work find out I'm 99% vegan, they keep saying "well, as long as you get your protien."
The other day, I flipped open the 12Day McDougall book and he said it was virtually impossible to be protien deficient. A serving of potatoes has something like 18% of your daily needs of protien.
And all those studies that were done YEARS ago about cancer. Vegetarians and vegans don't seem to get cancer. And McDougall says it's virtually unknown in Japan.
(wow, I'm ranting too)
Also, I'm tired of hearing people say "well, it's your genetics". No it isn't. It may be 2% of the problem, but if 100% of what you put in your mouth is garbage, you could have the genes of superman and it wouldn't matter.
It's hard listening to people say how bad carbs are, too. There is so much misinformation out there. My mother called me just yesterday saying that diets high in starch cause diabetes. Uh, no. I plain out said, "No, Mom. I've read tons of research that says otherwise."
It's hard not to rant and rave at people.
Thanks for ranting. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
