Food Revolution Summit starts Saturday

Postby momof4 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 11:19 am

http://foodrevolution.org/broadcasts/

It doesn't look like anyone's posted this. As usual, there's a wide variety of speakers, but some favorites are Drs Ornish, Esselstyn, Barnard, and Dr Campbell--I treat it like a salad bar (take what I want and leave the rest) rather than criticizing some of the speakers they've chosen. :)

The way it works is that you sign up for it with your email (it's free), and you have 24 hrs to access each talk for no charge. They'll try to get you to buy the whole series, but that is of course optional.

Oh, and Marc David (May 3) is really good, too, for a different perspective on emotional eating.

Well put! My sentiments exactly.
On 7/8/2013, I decided to change my diet to a "mostly" WFPB diet. I have always been somewhat lean and muscular due to being a lifelong exerciser. Change in diet due to feeling crummy all the time despite a healthy outward appearance. Image

I'm curious about the financial aspect of the food summit. Questions like:

1. How much revenue/profit does the summit generate in selling the empowerment packages?
2. Is each speaker paid to participate?

It is nice that they provide free access to the broadcasts and I realize that they do have expenses to cover in providing the info.
However, I think much more could be learned by buying a presenter's book (for example, Esselstyn's book for under $20) vs buying an empowerment package for between $97 to $227.

Thanks for all the links bbq. Gives me some new things to listen to. I am tired of all the political talk stuff anyway. I am listening to the Joel Fuhrman, M.D. – Why Be A Nutritarian podcast now.

One nice things these summits have done is introduced me to people I hadn't previously heard of, and then I can usually find more talks by them on youtube.

Yeah, true momof4 . I just discovered Dr. Wes Youngberg. He gives some really interesting talks that I enjoy listening to.

I listened to today's talks on gmo. There is also a replays button that leads to the replays page. It is always dangerous to try to implement changes on how food is produced bec. any mistake could mean millions will die. Global warming will probably lead to more dependence on gmo. Human genes has lots of virus genes so cross species transfer of genes and horizontal transfer of genes has been going on for billions of years.

It's amazing how many of the speakers have attended the ASW's in Santa Rosa. It's like a family reunion.

bbq Thanks and blessings to you for sharing your download links as you have in previous years with such generosity.

It is wonderful to have access to such wide ranging presentations with acclaimed and high profile speakers representing various points of view/emergent trends and pointing to new understandings and modalities in the plant based realm.

Not only our diet/nutrition but our understanding of food production, health, economics and people/Earth care is evolving and shown to be intimately connected: this summit attests to that in a powerful way.

I have really enjoyed this summit and would encourage people to click on a link of someone they maybe had not heard of, and be stimulated and challenged a little
