Didn't he have such a training program a few years back, one that trained people to give presentations on his way of eating? It wasn't any official government sanctioned certificate involved, just the blessings of the McDougalls to use the literature (and maybe they were given some videos?) to give classes in churches and other gathering places. My memory is shot so let me try the Search...

Ah, here's a thread:
http://drmcdougall.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7027

It sends you to this Star McDougaller's page where Dr. McD talks about his impending teacher trainee program back in 2007:

http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2007star/nov/starjoanne2.htm

but in that first link it goes on to say how people did write and ask him about it but Dr. McDougall wasn't ready to start the classes yet. I guess he still isn't because there was no more mention of it that I could see.

i think the eCornell course is just about the same, its $1200 and you get a nice plant based certificate. Honestly, its nothing you can't learn on your own, its just a bunch of dr campbells lectures and some discussion posts. I watched over Kristin's shoulder as she did it and you are better off saving your $ because if you can read and comprehend The China Study and have been to an Advanced Study Weekend I think you'll know about the same as that course teaches you. I could teach the whole thing myself. Spend the $ attending an Advanced Study Weekend instead

With Dr. McDougall's teaching program, graduates were going to be allowed to use the McDougall name and resources to teach in the the community.

Dr. Fuhrman has a program like this, complete with a list of textbooks, 3 exams for initial certification, recertification exams every 2 (?) years, and the use of the Fuhrman Nutritarian name in marketing the classes. It's good for life coaches, social workers, therapists - everyone who has a hand in improving nutrition and lifestyle choices with the public. Those people already teach their clients but the certification now allows them to teach with authority when they teach nutrition. People who have taken both the eCornell course and the Fuhrman one says there's no comparison - the Fuhrman course is hands-down more geared to professionals and the eCornell course to those curious about nutrition.

THIS is the type of course people want from Dr. McDougall. But it's a lot of work, not just for the students but the people running the program. There's curriculum to develop, training videos to make, tests to make and grade. Dr. McDougall finally got his 10-day program certified for CEU credits for doctors and nurses not that long ago, and that alone was a lot of hoops to jump through. A whole training course with some kind of certification is a whole new set of hoops. I can see him dropping that, maybe in favor of his MS research. There are only so many hours in a day.
