Can you eat too much fruit on this eating plan?

Why do some people say not to have nuts in your breads, or seeds? I thougth we could have these?

Nuts and seeds are high in fat and will slow weight loss. If you can limit yourself to a small amount each day, say no more than a handful, that is probably fine, especially if you're physically active.

Fruits, especially dried fruits and juices, are higher in calories than starches and vegetables, and sweet which makes you want to eat more of them. If you have a lot of weight to lose and/or aren't physically active, best to limit or eliminate dried fruits and fruit juices, and not eat large amounts of fresh fruit.

Myself, I'm physically active and don't need to lose weight, so I eat nuts, seeds, peanut butter, tahini, and dried fruit on a regular basis. But I don't recommend this for people who need to lose a lot of weight or are sedentary.

I guess I won't lose weight either because I have almonds sitting right on the counter now and I know i eat a handful a day or at best 30. I make my almond milk with them with just water and the almonds. This is still confusing. Furhman says eat you nuts other says soak your nuts. I weigh 161 pounds not a lot to some but for me, it's a lot right around the gut. I don't know how I'm going to tell if I'm getting healthier because I really have no illness. Thank you Lord for that but the no nuts. it's nuts.I still think we are to eat legumes. I think this is why I crap out on a lot of *dieting* choices. I make my own juice. I have a juicer. Are you saying these aren't good also? I believe in juicing as I'm getting the whole juice from my fruit and vegetables.

Fuhrman's opinions on nuts, fruits, and juices are different from McDougall's. You may do perfectly well following his advice, but this is the McDougall board, so people following McDougall's diet are going to give you different advice. You can read for free all the details of the McDougall program here on this site if you haven't already. You can also watch McDougall's video message on nuts for more insight.
