I'm 72 and have never been a sun bather but I have worked out doors all through my life. I have solar damage on my arms but lately the skin is so thin and will tear and bruise. My arms look like I have some terrible condition.

I have had a lot of pain in shoulders and knees from arthritic condition. I started taking a wonder pill recently that has a lot of herbs that asprin is made from. They kill the pain but I'm thinking that they have thinned my blood. I always have had low blood pressure and that is still true.

There must be something that I can take to build up my blood. Beets? Beans? A suppliment?

Alison, you would probably benefit from lots of dark, leafy greens such as kale, spinach, etc. as they are some of the best sources of vitamin K, which helps blood to clot, and therefore thicken blood....which is vital to prevent bleeding.

Welcome aboard, Alison!

Yes, emphasizing the leafy greens may help. Are you following Dr. McDougall's guidance?

Hi Alison,
You could email Dr. McDougall directly at drmcdougall@drmcdougall.com He's wonderful about replying quickly and often can be very helpful via email.

I'm 62 and have the brown spots on my hands from aging and sun damage. I know the thinning skin and bruising under the skin is distressing and hope you can find something that helps.

Please keep us posted.
