Human Ancestors Ate Tree Bark in Diet Focused on Forest

I've been teased about eating bark and twigs myself a few times.

I became a vegetarian about 35 years ago and I was beaten over the head with the "bark and twigs" thing. Back then, people were often enraged at vegetarianism.

I just finished reading Born to Run (a great read, by the way!) and there is a scientist who thinks that the reason why homo sapiens survived and the Neanderthal did not is because the homo sapiens could run down large animals like antelope and the like.

Next time I have someone try to convince me about the paleo diet I am thinking I might say something about eating meat is fine, if you run it down and kill it with your bare hands... : ) I mean, if you want to live the paleo life, that is part of it...would that be so wrong?
