Lactose in medication

So my doctor prescribed me a new medication today, and after looking it up it looks like it contains lactose. Being a vegan for a year and a half, I'm wondering if anybody knows if this small amount of lactose will have a negative effect on my body.

I don't think it is a big deal, but you may want to speak with your doctor concerning trying a different brand of medication, instead? Other brands of the same general type of medication will most likely be differently formulated, and those do have a chance of not containing any non-vegan elements.

veganteen, if you don't get a satisfactory answer here, pharmacists are a very good resource for questions like this. Just call the pharmacy where you filled it and ask away!

There may not be an alternative med, but they may be able to reassure you that you're on the right track.
