I am dying for a cookie! I know if I had any in the house I'd eat them all. Sweets are my downfall I know. I am trying to satisfy that craving with sweet potatoes. Any other suggestions? I have 7# to go so I really don't want to cheat.

eat sweet fruits: grapes, pineapples, dates, ripe berries--hopefully it will help some

I find that if I have a craving the best thing to do is to get moving. Doing laundry, gardening, vaccuming, going for a walk....that usually takes my mind of the sweets.

I have a sweet tooth too

I like rice cakes with all fruit jam. Also, stewed apples with cinnamon and a sprinkle of a few raisins topped with a few sliced toasted almonds (just a few!).

You are craving a cookie which is sugar mixed with fat, not just something sweet. I do make black bean brownies on occasion and they come close to the mouth feel. You can find the recipe on the Happy Herbavore site.

I'm not going to give you my astounding no bake granola bar recipe as you're doing the MWL, but what about wizzing some oats and dates together in the food processor? Would that be permtted?

When I want something sweet, I go for my favorite fruit, pineapple. I like it fresh or frozen. I also eat frozen cherries when I crave sweets. If I have been really good keeping my calories down, I will sometimes throw a frozen banana in the food processor with a tablespoon of cacao and some vanilla and make a soft-serve 'faux' ice cream. It tastes like such a sinful treat.

My favorite "I need something sweet" quicky:

Nuke some frozen fruit (peaches and cherries are awesome for this).

When it's hot and gooey, add a little rolled oats--just enough to soak up the juice.

Add a little maple syrup (just a little)!

Enjoy! It's kinda like fruit crumble. Easy, fast, and yummy. And sweet! :)

I really love lfwfv's (hope I got that right!) recipe of mashed banana nuked with oatmeal, water and cocoa or carob powder... but I also add in some frozen cherries... it comes out nice and gooey, somewhere between a soft chewy cherry chocolate oatmeal cookie and chocolate pudding.

@nordgirl, I'm not on mwl, where can I find this astounding no bake granola bar recipe?

Thanks for these awesome suggestions. I think I will have to give them a try. :-) I think it's the sugar I miss. I hope the rest of my weight goes quickly do I'm not so restricted...

Oregonmom. I am also a Oregon mom. I have a terrible sweet tooth. Chocolate! It's been so hard to let it go.

I sometimes have a small bowl of oatmeal and blueberries in the afternoons when I want something sweet. I also really like the Happy Herbivore black bean brownies. The ingredients are oatmeal, agave nectar, cocoa powder (you can substitute carob or use fat-reduced cocoa powder), vanilla, oatmeal and bananas so it's close to MWL compliant (although it might push you over the 2-fruit a day limit). I don't use the optional sugar in the recipe because I find them sweet enough already. When I make a batch I cut it up and freeze it in one-serving portions. I have to take it out of the freezer a few hours before eating so it means I don't eat them all at once!

Banana "ice cream" has saved me many times! You can sprinkle a bit of unsweetened cocoa powder in there for chocolate I've cream, or blend in some other frozen fruits. You can make a sundae by topping it with fresh berries.

Hi nordgirl,
Now that it's been 2 days since oregonmom's sweet craving, is it safe for you to post that no bake granola recipe? :-D My non-MWL family members would like to try making granola bars.
Thanks,
Ryan
