Looks interesting, but I wait and see. I have a sense that it will miss the mark and not deal with the real solution.

It looks really good, I doubt that it will have the solution we think is best.

Here's a detailed press release on the show, as well. http://theweightofthenation.hbo.com/dow ... elease.pdf

It looks interesting. While I don't think they'll proposing a plant-based solution, it looks like they do see lack of fruit and veggie consumption as a big part of the problem.

Quote:
The film shows how food is produced and marketed, which can have severe consequences for the nation’s health. For example, national farm policies, including
subsidies for corn and soy, have contributed to an abundance of processed foods that are high in calories and low in nutrients. However, fruit and vegetable farmers get little support, and only 3% of American crop land is used for fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, the vast majority of Americans fall short of meeting recommendations for daily servings of fruits and vegetables. High-calorie food is often much cheaper than vegetables and fruit.

Too bad I don't have HBO.

Kiki, I don't have HBO either, so I sent for the screening kit. It came today, but I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. The kit contains DVDs and discussion booklets.

It was free of charge.

LadyBug2: Can you post or PM back when you have looked at the DVD. Are all 3 episodes of the program on the DVD or is it just a preview?

Thanks,
J

I have HBO and I plan on watching this show. There seems to be a lot of discussion on obesity lately, hopefully positive actions will follow.

I sent off for the kit as well, not even sure why I did that! I haven't received mine yet but if it has DVDs in it awesome!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. It's not previews, it's the full episodes and discussion guides.
