Every time I read Dr. McDougall's recommendations about something, I hear a report in the news a day or so later confirming what he says. I would think he has special powers if I didn't know better, but the truth of the matter is that is probably reads more scientific literature than your average doctor. Here is an article I saw today on Yahoo News about calcium:http://health.yahoo.net/experts/dayinhe ... ttack-risk
p.s When I complained to my doctor last month about pains in my legs, without even doing any tests, she flippantly said, "Oh you just probably need more calcium, just take some Tums."
Well I read The Starch Solution instead and began getting my daily dose of Vitamin D the old fashioned way----from the Sun and the pains in my legs went away.
