Well... in the US, CEO's and high level executives from the meat and big agribusiness corporations get appointed to regulatory positions in the FDA. Then... politicians reduce the number of employees and the number of tests performed on meat, dairy, and the egg industries. Regulations bad, profit good. Profit before people... every time....
