Since it is their business, life insurance companies know a lot about mortality. Did you know that some companies offer different rates for people of the same age and sex? The rates are determined by risk factors such as tobacco use, blood pressure, weight, cholesterol level etc. When I was shopping for insurance a few months ago, I was amazed by the range of premiums that are offered for the same coverage by different companies.
Of course I wanted to get the best rate and I got a very good rate. I think it is be the best rate the company offers for people of my age and sex. So I am grateful for the good statistics that mean lower premiums--one of the many McDougalling benefits!
