Love, a weird vibe? I can taste subtle differences based on the materials used in many pots and pans, especially when heated, so this could have potentially affected the tastes of both heated items for you.
LoriLynn, a microwave definitely permits me to eat more variety at one time, I think! I can microwave veggies, bake or broil potatoes, and heat lentils or beans on the stove simultaneously. My non-starchy veggie intake dwindles without a microwave and is quickly replaced by less appealing raw veggies or less nutritionally optimal (for me, personally) fruits. Hmmm.
ch47gunnergirl1, I have been cleaning the microwave with vinegar for the past week or two, and it hasn't improved at all! I've even tried lemons, baking soda, heating it with vinegar inside...I really can't think of many other options to test, at this point. But thank you!
However...I'm also worried about purchasing a new microwave, as I understand the microwave will offgas for quite a bit of time (the new microwave at work is still doing it a month in!), and I'm sensitive to absolutely every little thing these days. Bleh.
