So, I decided when I went full speed ahead on this program that I needed to get baseline numbers for my bloodwork. So 3 months ago I stopped my Lipitor and all of my supplements.
Without Lipitor, my cholesterol is considered normal for someone without heart disease. My ldl comes in at 99, my hdl around 49 and I forgot what my tris are, but they are low. But because I have heart disease, my cardiologist wants me to keep my ldl at 70 or below. If my number is below 99, I will continue on this path and not add the Lipitor back in. If it hasn't moved, I will continue eating this way and just add the med back in.
As far as the supplements, I felt that since my gastric bypass 5 years ago, I just blindly supplemented because I was told to. I thought long and hard about this and thought that maybe they suggest all of that supplementation because of the high protein, non nutrient rich diet they suggest for weight loss surgery patients. I want to see where my numbers really are and if I need to supplement, I will.
I am really optimistic that I will not be back on meds for cholesterol. I really want to go back to my drs. and tell them how I did it and that I don't need the medication.
I only mention my weight loss surgery so you know why I was taking supplements. Not to start anything about the surgery.
