Hi guys, I'd just like to hear your thoughts and advice on this... Do you think potatoes or sweet potatoes are more satiating, healthier, more fiber~ful, easier to digest, etc???? I am still trying to figure out which I prefer.. I go back and forth. Is there an advantage to one over the other ya think?? I always like to choose the healthiest food :-D
I know I will always include both, but I am wondering if one is better for you???? ;-)

i love reds and golds, but when I eat them I don't feel good. I feel bloated and hungry at the same time. I'm now eating mostly sweet potatoes and I feel better.

I like both equally and sometimes will eat both at same time with BBQ sauce. :)

Cheers

I found I enjoy sweet potatoes more, if they were just baked. But I still use quite a few potatoes in recipes as my "meat substitute." Either choice, my wife and I both feel satiated with them.

For me sweet potatoes are more healthy because I don't have to use tons of sauces of them to get them down. With that said, I still eat potatoes more. Potatoes are just easier to make a meal out of that the family will like!

I like sweet potatoes. You can simply boil and eat, you don't need anything else. It is closest to the natural form and very filling, tastes good as well. The only thing with Sweet Potato is they are hard to find where I live.

Thank you all.. Yes I am trying to figure out if I feel better on sweet taters which I am leaning towards, only because plain taters, even though I LOVE eating them, seem dryer, like less water in them.. is that possible? I like high water content food, for digestion... I never add anything to them, but I do think I eat more plain taters at once then sweet ones. Not sure if the composition is really different between the two??? Also when I plug in the numbers in cron~o~meter, plain potatoes seem higher in cals! Not that it matters, just trying to figure the two starches out, and come up with the superior spud :-D
Seems the sweet potatoes is winning in this discussion ;-)

Ha. I was going to say that too, but then I remembered that sweet potatoes can give me gas. That doesn't happen with regular potatoes. In any case, I eat both, but I probably eat regular potatoes more often than I eat sweet potatoes.

I have acid reflux issues and sweet potatoes are Universally and always perfect for me.
Regular potatoes most of the time are good and sometime cause me problems.
I rely on sweet potatoes as my main starch now.

I did have my tongue in my cheek. Eat variety. You don't need the most fiber, you need enough fiber. Variety is much more important because every single food has in it something that few or no others have. And again, you don't need them all, you just need enough. Eat white potatoes, red potatoes, yellow potatoes, blue potatoes, sweet potatoes, kabocha squash, butternut squash, hubbard squash, quinoa, brown rice, black rice, red rice, amaranth, oats, millet, barley, buckwheat...

The best, yummiest and most nutritious starches are, in my opinion and to my knowledge, sweet potatoes and butternut squash.
I like to boil the latter, let it cool down, put it in the fridge and eat it cold. It's superb on its own. I've had weeks eating just that, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Very rudimentary question. Do you take the whole butternut Squash, boil it , put it in fridge and then cut up and eat as you need, with skin? I have not had butternut suash and not sure if you can eat with skin or you only eat the the part that is inside, like how you would eat for e.g watermelon
