Because of my high cholesterol, I've had stress tests every couple of years with no indication of blockages. Last week I had a heart scan and my EBT calcium score was 16.48 (one 8.72 mm plaque in my LAD, none in the other 3 arteries). My doctor suggested this test because I did not want to take statins, and then, because apparently more than 50% of women my age have less calcium build up than this, said these results indicate that I need to take 40 mg of Lipitor daily. Has anyone else had heart scans or can vouch for their reliability?
