elimination diet for psoriasis

Postby PeggyNan » Fri Jul 08, 2011 10:02 pm

My husband will be gone for a week and a half, maing it easier for me to try an extreme elimination diet. I am loking at the information by Dr. McDougall titled "Allergic Reactions to Food" that I found on this site by searching for 'elimination diet'.

FOr NicoleS or other psoriasis/PA people, would that plan seem right ? I have had no improvement in psoriasis since starting on McDougall plan in Feb. I've lost weight, my cholesterol is lower, I feel better...all the things I hoped for, but NO improvement in extent or severity of psoriasis. I have been eating a lot of tomatoes/potatoes.

From that article I would choose brown rice, sweet potatoes, cooked veg, mostly beets and spinach, and cooked fruit (canned peaches and pears). Are any of these, from your experience, things that should also be avoided if looking for skin improvement?

THANKS

I got rid of almost all of my eczema through adopting a subset of the McDougall Program Regular diet after using the Elimination Diet to discover which foods worked and which didn't.

The only change I would suggest to Dr. McDougall's list of ED foods is deleting the brown rice. It is the only seed of any kind on the list. No other grains, and no beans, peas, nuts, or other seeds appear on the list.

(For my experiences with the ED see the second link below my signature. Go to the "Key Posts" links in the right-hand column; and here are my experiences with the ED: http://anti-itisdiet.blogspot.com/2007/ ... foods.html.)
