Cuz Nicki was being his handsome self yesterday afternoon when I got home. He nearly tripped me as I walked down the hallway in anticipation that he was going to get (because it is soooooooooooo unusual to obtain this) FOOD  After finishing his 'dinner' and before going for a walk - I cooked up some more organic chicken and shredded his organic veggies into a container (which will do him for a few days). Well, I am so sorry to announce to this community - but Cuz Nicki has dementia. Yep, he totally forgot that he had just been fed less than 10 minutes earlier  Yep, the face of sheer desperation was evident.
Seriously - I inturn had wonderful veggie soup. I have devised a new one. Broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, zucchini, baby spinach and parsnips. Yummy. It is the best. If you are not turned off by green soup - then it is the one to have.
Below is Cuz Nicki - nearly unconscious from lack of food

Hello all, Nicki and I are back from leave. I had been unwell for a couple of weeks before I went on leave and about one month ago saw and Irradologist (eye doctor) who basically has been treating me and I feel 100% well. Unfortunately while we were away, Cuz Nicki snapped his crucial ligament and at this stage the vet does not wish to operate (which would cost about $2000) as the recovery time would be more than 3 months. Nicki is not in any pain and although he tends not to favour that leg, he is now up to walking about 2 small blocks per day. Anyway, first day back, spent the morning in our Supreme Court on a matter and the afternoon going through 954 emails. Am heading off to feed Cuz Nicki who of course wants his dinner. Just to make you guys smile, after Nicki hurt himself (he did this while playing with my bestee friend's pet lamb when we visited her in the country) I bought 2 pieces of 'smoked' salmon using a smoking machine at our organic markets. The two pieces costed me $25 and I had $3 worth and Cuz Nicki had $22 worth. He loved it and I couldn't resist.
Cheers Jan and Cuz Nicki

Cuz Nicki went to the vets last Friday for his 3rd injection and the vet says he is doing very well without having to have an operation for the snapped cruca ligament. Cuz Nicki will never have the full use of his back leg however, the vet says that this would be the case even if he had the operation. So I figure it is the safe bet to not have the operation and not put Cuz Nicki through at least 3 months recovery time (plus the pain  )

Cuz Nicki was a tad disappointed with the writer of this entry as the writer of this entry did not buy him some smoked salmon at our local markets last weekend. Mainly due to finances I must point out. $25 for 2 pieces of smoked salmon is very $$$$. However, the miffed look on his face was noticed by me

We have definetely hit winter here in Sydney. Today there is a severe weather warning as a storm is approaching that will cover VIC and NSW (2 States) so I'm hoping to leave work early to get home and huddle with Cuz Nicki. Winter veggie soups in now being considered as we freeze (well for Sydney it is cold). I decided today to go get some thermal underwear given that I have a long sleave knitted shirt on; two jumpers and also an overcoat. Yep I am cold.

Cheers - Jan and Cuz Nicki

Hello all :-D Cuz Nicki and I are reporting from Sunny Sydney  Sydney has been experiencing heavy rains and dreadful weather causing trees to fall and damage to properties - however no lives have been lost which is a God send. Cuz Nicki and I have survived this weather although today we went walking even in the rain as either Cuz Nicki went for a walk or he was going to go stir crazy and I was going to hit the bottle at 7am

Cuz Nicki got the tick of approval from our last visit with the vets who said that he thought Cuz Nicki may improve slightly but not much more improvement, however, the lilkelihood is that he wouldn't have any more improvement if he had had the operation, and he would have had 3 month recovery time plus being in plaster. Cuz Nicki and I are grateful to the fact that we have dealt with this operation free. :-D

I have just been sent an email with an e-book attached - by Sarah Wilson (who use to be a publisher with one of our magazines here in Aussie land). About 7 months ago she become totally sugar free - she sights sugar as being the evil food. In her 40+ page e-book, she attacks both refined sugars (no need for brain infusion required to get that refined sugars are not so good) but also what I would have considered 'good' sugars - such as sugars found naturally in fruit. However, she states that one has to detox from all sugars and then go back on slowly on the good sugars (fruit). She reports that the nutrients can be found by eating a wide variety of veggies (yep agree with that one). Anyway, am reading the book as I start to think about 'retiring' from alcohol consumption for a while. My body has become very sensitive to different foods. Although diary free - there are times when I may have food that has some dairy in it - such as sauces in pasta's etc. But I am no reacting to this. Anyway, I have become more tired the following mornings even if I have one/two glass max of wine. So am thinking more about stopping wine consumption which has lots of sugar and may actually see some weight loss - not bad outcome if this occurs.

Two weeks ago I missed doing yoga (which I have done twice) - am booked in to do yoga every Sunday as my Pilates Teacher has encouraged me to do Yoga to assist with my posture as well as doing the pilates. Anyway, two weeks ago missed yoga as did this last week due to having one/two glasses of wine with dinner. That is the only difference between waking up the following morning feeling yukkie compared to other days - the Saturday evening on both those occasions I had wine. So have been thinking for a while that my body is becoming more sensitive to different foods - maybe due to being quite cleansed. Anyway, I don't want to wake up feeling sluggish and the only common demoninator is the wine I had.
So well, I can only try - if i break it - so be - but need to give it a try.
Anyway, I found her e-book quite interesting because she goes on about whole foods (although she is a meat and dairy eater), she takes about eating wholefoods and staying right away from processed foods and additives. So will report on how I feel.

The only issue I have is that she talks about the fact that you will have some mood swings and feel slightly crappy as you detox. Sarah is obviously not going through menopause as I am constantly having mood swings and up to today was having sugar (ie fruit) in my diet

Anyway, although it hasn't rained for most of the day today - since arriving at work - it has started to pour down again - just as we have about an hour or so to go. May have to walk Nicki in the rain again with his beauiful Red Raincoat. Little Nicki Ridinghood.
Cheers - Jan and Cuz Nicki
