I too would love to read your article. Can you post it here on the forum?

It would be good to have some local support.

I'd love to meet up with others over here - I'm in London but travel north to visit family

Katherine

Well, we will be landing in London the morning of May 16, 2012, and the rest of the trip is in the planing stages. If you would like to meet us (three McDougallers from Pacifica) just PM me or e-mail me at oceancrone@yahoo.com.

Hi, I have just joined the forum, I live just outside Chester, in North Wales. I have not started the program yet, though I've been a vegan for 20 years but always losing and gaining stones. I have tried the Fuhrman diet but never seem to stay on it very long, I am frightened of the grains and potatoes on this plan, but will give it a go soon. I wanted to ask, when apple sauce is refered to in the recipes, does it just mean stewed apples and does it mean bramleys or eating apples. Well, that's my first question anyway. I'm looking forward to the new book coming out next week so I can really get to grips with what to do and why.

Hi purplerain, I'm from the US originally but now live in London. Applesauce in the US is just apples cooked until they're a puree and it's very easy to find in large jars in supermarkets. Over here it's harder to find without extra stuff added to it.

I sometimes make my own (it can be made from any kind of apple though Bramleys are very easy and fast!). I also use baby food apple puree when I can find it, or Clearspring apple puree which can be found in health food stores (although it's a bit pricey).

Thank you TerriT, I think I will make my own then and keep it in the freezer. I am starting the plan tomorrow, so we are going to Morrisons today to stock up on things I'll need. They have a really good dried bean section there. I am quite excited now and thinking of recipes to make.

I've only just discovered this thread - how great to see fellow UK McDougallers! I'm in Reading, Berkshire. A meet-up would be AWESOME (as our American friends would say...)

I'm still floundering a bit trying to get straight what is ok on this plan and I've got to go to Manchester for a shopping trip with a friend on Saturday. I don't know the city well and am worrying about dinner out. I was thinking about suggesting a subway as I could get a plain salad on a roll, hoping they must do some kind of wholemeal roll. I'm not doing the maximum weightloss plan, can anyone advise me if that's a good choice.
Thanks for any help whilst I just get going.

Assuming this is the same chain as we have here in the US, yes, it's okay once in a while. They offer a veggie option, called Veggie Delite. As I dislike the peppers and stuff, I just get mine with lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. My husband gets his with all the vegetables offered. When he goes in to order, he makes sure they put extra stuff on mine, otherwise all I would get is a pitiful amount, as they seem to be taught only one way to make the sandwich, the meaty way. Sigh. They do offer a whole wheat (your wholemeal I think) option. Neither of us would get the one with the veggie burger on it.

I am so excited! We will be meeting up in Oxford with Katherine and Sue, and I believe that Katherine has PMd some others from the UK who might like to get together. If you have not heard from her, send her a message!

Thank you Plumerias, I feel much better once I have a plan in place, that's great!

One of the easiest meals to find when out and about is a jacket potato with baked beans and salad. Just be sure to specify no butter on the potato and no dressing on the salad. A few years ago we were travelling around Lincolnshire and no matter what small town we were visiting on any particular day, I could always find my standard meal in some cafe or another!

I PMd a few others about 6 months ago just trying to identify Brits - not in relation to meeting up in Oxford. Anyone is welcome to come on the Oxford "meet" if they want to. It's the 17th May.

Cheers

Katherine

Thank you Katherine! That's too bad, I won't be able to make that because my cousin is visiting from Austria that week. I hope everyone who goes has a great time, and perhaps post pics here?

I'll keep my eyes out on this thread to see if any other meetups happen :) it would be fantastic
