McDougall Peru Adventure!
The last week
of March 2000 we toured the major attractions of Peru with 25 people
interested in following a strict vegetarian diet and having a better
life. This was possibly the best McDougall trip to date - which
is a lot to say considering our previous trips over the past 6 years.
Once we left Lima we stepped back in time. The archaeologic sites
of the Incas were astounding, and the ruins at Machu Picchu were
a spiritual experience that changed many of our lives. Local people
plowed fields using cows to unearth potatoes. They wove hats, sweaters,
blankets, and scarves - all purchased for a fraction of the cost
we would pay in the USA. Their paintings and pottery were of excellent
quality.
Before the
trip we took several months to train the chefs at each hotel and
restaurant to make delicious low-fat vegan foods - we even sent
our food ambassador ahead to evaluate the dishes, make suggestions,
and give final approval. As a result, every single meal was 5 star
quality.
If you would
like to have a similar experience in Peru we can arrange the trip
for groups of any size. We also have 2 or more
new trips a year to adventurous destinations personally supervised
by John and Mary McDougall.
